IDIS “Global Social Responsibility"
initiative in action

IDIS established a “Global Social Responsibility“ initiative to engage with, and give back to, local communities across the globe. In its first North American initiative, IDIS donated and installed a comprehensive video surveillance solution for the City of Coppell, Texas—hometown of the company’s American regional headquarters—in support of the city’s newly opened library, the Cozby Library and Community Commons. The new library serves as both an information resource for the city and a regional center for community gatherings.

The donation was made with the support of IDIS‘s partner, KOTRA Dallas, a regional branch of South Korea’s official trade promotion agency, which is dedicated to building stronger ties between Korean manufacturers and the global marketplace.

Keeping community spaces open
and safe for all

From an operations perspective, the Cozby Library and Community Commons needed a video surveillance solution that would be capable of tracking visitors in both highly-trafficked open areas and throughout the rows of shelves lining the facility with books, movies, and other resources for patrons to borrow from the library. Additionally, its open air common areas needed to be covered by full range surveillance in order to ensure the safety of the children, families, and large community gatherings that visit the library for communal events.

Albert Gauthier, Chief Information Officer for the City of Coppell, noted, “Ensuring that every Coppell resident and visitor has a safe and secure experience at the library is a priority for all of us working for the City of Coppell. Quality video surveillance technology was required to ensuring that all who work within and visit our new city library are able to do so in the most secure and safe environment possible.”

Traditional learning space protected
by next-generation technology

IDIS partnered with integrator Knight Security Systems to equip the Cozby Library and Community Commons with an end-to-end total solution to meet both their interior and exterior surveillance needs. The donated system comprised more than 15 cameras, including one 5MP IDIS Super Fisheye Camera, which provides 360-degree panoramic surveillance across 64 individual views together with independent ePTZ functionality. IDIS Super Fisheye Cameras also support dewarping both on the camera and on client applications, including mobile devices, providing the library with operational flexibility.

The IDIS cameras donated to the City of Coppell also feature the award-winning IDIS Smart UX Controls, which provide operators with an advanced yet intuitive user interface when compared to conventional PTZ controls. With simple click-and-drag actions, operators can quickly focus on and track specific objects, with no need for multiple clicks to refocus. The quick and simple operation of IDIS Smart UX Controls enables pinpoint accurate surveillance for security personnel tracking library guests at all times.

" Library security is essential to keeping our patrons and staff safe while at the library, and IDIS’s donation of a next-generation video surveillance solution to the Cozby Library and Community Commons was a generous show of neighborly engagement and support for which we are very grateful. City libraries are particularly special places since they provide gathering spaces for children, families, students, and community organizations, and they serve as a center of learning and contemplation for all who enter. Everyone who comes to the Cozby Library will have more peace of mind thanks to IDIS’s generous donation. "
