37 Camera Q. How to view IP cameras using a mobile phone 2015-07-06
A.

IDIS is providing various applications to support each type of mobile phone.
There are mobile apps for iPhone, android and window phone.
Apps can be found by “idis mobile” as a searching string.
IDIS Mobile supports many features of live, play, alarm control, etc

36 Camera Q. How to apply privacy masks on an IP camera 2015-07-06
A.

Privacy masks is a feature that masking some area where the user doesn’t want to show.
The masked area will not be shown in either live mode or playback. These areas don’t contain any image data. Only black boxes can be seen on the screen.
Up to 16 areas for privacy masking can be set on the image.

35 Camera Q. How to upgrade IP camera's firmware 2015-07-06
A.

The firmware files are different from each type of camera.
You have to prepare a firmware file(.rui) that is suitable for the camera.

1) From DirectIP NVR
In Setup > Camera > Upgrade, you can upgrade cameras directly from NVR.
Firmware files should be stored in the USB memory stick which will be connected to the NVR.

2) From IDIS Discovery
To upgrade the camera from IDIS Discovery, both PC and Camera must be in the same subnet. Verify the IP address first before trying to upgrade.
The menu for the upgrade can be found from the Management in the top menu bar.

34 Camera Q. What is the IK rating? 2015-07-06
A.

The IK rating classifies the level of protection that electrical appliances provide against mechanical impacts from outside. It is defined by standard IEC 62262. The degree of mechanical protection is identified by a code that consists of the letters IK followed by two digits:

Code

Impact Energy

Test

00

Non-protected

01

0.15 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 200 grams thrown from a distance of 7.5 cm

02

0.20 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 200 grams thrown from a distance of 10 cm

03

0.35 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 200 grams thrown from a distance of 17.5 cm

04

0.50 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 200 grams thrown from a distance of 25 cm

05

0.70 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 200 grams thrown from a distance of 35 cm

06

1.00 joule

Resistant against an impact from an object of 500 grams thrown from a distance of 20 cm

07

2.00 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 500 grams thrown from a distance of 40 cm

08

5.00 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 1.7 kg thrown from a distance of 29.5 cm

09

10.00 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 5 kg thrown from a distance of 20 cm

10

20.00 joules

Resistant against an impact from an object of 5 kg thrown from a distance of 40 cm

33 Camera Q. How to display an analog video (CVBS) output of an IP camera? 2015-07-06
A.

Some Network cameras have CVBS analog video output port so it can be seen through a portable monitor.
It is utilized for making the image more focused and setting view angle.
When the camera operates in IDIS protocol, Video format between NTSC and PAL is selectable in Setup > Video > Camera > Miscellaneous.

In the case of WDR camera,
There is a condition to output the analog signal. CVBS analog video signal might not be generated from the camera. It’s a limitation of the SoC chip on the WDR camera.
If the 4th stream is not set (only 3 streams are operating), CVBS will perform well.
In DirectIP NVR, if the custom field for recording is not set, CVBS will be outputted.

32 Camera Q. RTSP stream commands of IDIS IP cameras 2015-07-06
A.

To receive stream via RTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol), RTSP player is required.

VLC player is one of the most popular players.(http://www.videolan.org/)

The command line for playing remote live video via RTSP is below.

rtsp://ID:Password@IPaddress:RTSP port number/trackID=‘channel number

Please refer to the capture below for an example.

31 Camera Q. Which infrared-ray wavelength is used with IR Camera? 2015-07-06
A.

850nm Infrared-ray is illuminated from the IR-LED.

In general, humanity can see wavelength up to 780nm (visible light wavelength: 380nm ~ 780nm)

30 General Q. How can IDIS device detect the audio input event? 2015-07-06
A.

For audio detection, the device (ex. DirectIP camera) calculates the average power of the audio signal that is transmitted for a specific time (6.5 seconds).
If the current audio signal’s power is much higher than the power threshold of the audio signal (based on the average power of the audio signal), then audio detection is enabled.
That is,
1. Gather audio signal for 6.5 seconds
2. Calculate the average power of the audio signal
3. Compare the current power of the audio signal with the power threshold of the audio signal
4. Decide whether audio is detected or not.

The threshold of power level is determined by the audio sensitivity level.
* Sensitivity level 1: two times (6dB) higher than the average power of the audio signal
……..
* Sensitivity level 5: 1.2 times (1.6dB) higher than the average power of the audio signal

29 General Q. How to check the current external IP address 2015-07-06
A.

External IP address means the IP address on the public internet side. Commonly our PC might have the internal IP address range which is assigned from gateway such as NAT(Network address translation).

NAT helps us to use one public internet IP over many network devices.

The reason that you have to check the external IP address is that it is needed to connect the NVR or camera from the internet. The client uses the external IP to reach the target.

You can check the external IP address if you visit the following sites.
