IDIS America Senior Director Keith Drummond goes over the company’s latest offerings, as well as top opportunities in the marketplace.
SSI spoke with IDIS America Senior Director Keith Drummond ahead of GSX 2018 about the company’s latest offerings, highlighting their unique qualities.
1) What is the top product or offering your company is showing off this year, and what makes it unique or special?
The new offering that has really commanded the spotlight all year has been our 12MP Super Fisheye camera. The response has been universal: it’s the Fisheye the industry has been waiting for: 360° HD surveillance, clear ID from center to edge and wall to wall. Its built-in IR LEDs ensure nearly 50-ft night visibility, and it supports true WDR up to 120dB. The dewarping is second to none, with camera-side and client-side dewarping (including on smartphones), and it offers users the widest choice of recording platforms and VMS options. And it comes with all the benefits of the IDIS DirectIP range including the absolutely stunning ease and accuracy of our IDIS’s Smart UX Controls v2.0, that allow for agile and effortless p/t/z in a dewarped state and IDIS Intelligent Codec with MAT (which can deliver up to 90% storage and bandwidth savings).
2) What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of their unique qualities?
At its core, our proprietary DirectIP platform is still a key differentiator and top reason to partner with IDIS. With it’s true plug-and-play, self-configuring technology, industry leading warranties, assured backward/forward compatibility, and broad interoperability (including with non-IDIS offerings and IDIS HD-TVI analog solution), every new DirectIP offering is automatically a valuable potential contributor to any surveillance solution. And with core features like the award-winning IDIS SmartUX 2.0 controls, IDIS Intelligent Codec, and our IDIS Smart Failover Suite complementing the industry leading (and time saving) ease of installation and use, reduced training time, and lower total cost of ownership, the entire DirectIP line remains our not-so-secret weapon.
3) What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2018?
Everyone here at IDIS has been excited with the continued development and initial applications of the IDIS Deep Learning Engine, which continues to perform beyond expectations. Analytics are one of the key ways we can add value in the surveillance space and meet our customers needs for everything from enhanced security to greater business intelligence. As you know, our company was co-founded by experts in computer science and artificial intelligence and, in many ways, the industry is finally catching up with the “what if?” and “why not?” questions they started asking all those years ago.
4) What is your company’s overall value proposition to installing security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?
IDIS does a total solution better than anyone else. It’s complete, guaranteed, easy to use, very easy to install, which means faster installs, higher margins and happier customers—and the inherent scalability, interoperability, and backward/forward compatibility guarantees we offer make growing accounts easier. Our customer service and support is really second to none, with the company’s senior director of global technical support located right here with us in Dallas and accessible to all of our partners.
5) What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?
The top opportunity in the market right now lies in understanding, incorporating, and leveraging all of the new technology, innovation and spec enhancements we’re seeing in the industry. Innovation and new technology create the potential for greater value, and for the players in our industry, including IDIS and our strategic partners, cutting through the noise and crafting solutions that deliver that value — business intelligence, greater monetization, etc. — to end users are the keys to the kingdom. It’s an exciting time and one of the reasons I’m so proud to be with a company that prioritizes market needs-driven innovation with a core focus on R&D.
6) Anything else you would like to add?
Last year, as part of our 20 year anniversary celebration, the company highlighted our “Two Decades of Innovation,” and that reminder— or education for some who were less familiar with the company — was so powerful and well-received. But let me tell you, I just got back from our annual Global Partner Summit in Korea, where we discussed the current, ongoing innovation and got a peek at what’s coming next. And let me tell you, the next 20 years are going to be even better. Watch this space.
